Night at the British Museum

My favourite museum has always been the British Museum.
I always feel like I'm back in Rome whenever I visit due to the structure of the building.
I'm a sucker for columns and high ceilings. Especially since columns are secret code for hide & seek!
Friday night at the British Museum means it closes at 20:30 opposed to 17:30.
That gave us a few hours to browse the evening exhibitions.
Another reason why I keep going to this museum is because of this beaut:
The Queen Elizabeth II Great Court designed by Lord Foster in 2000.
It's honestly a photographers dream and needless to say it's even more amazing during the day.
(That was not supposed to rhyme I promise.)
Originally this area was part of the museums library but they relocated to re-open the space to the public. Thank goodness they did.
I could probably give you an eighteen minute monologue expressing how much I love this place but instead let me show you around, frizzy hair and all!
Zeus, God of Thunder didn't look too happy to see me.
In a matter of fact nor did Abi's best bud Hercules.

^ Look at the intricate detailing on this ewer and basin! I vow to take all future washes with this but only if I can have this exact set.
If you don't like skeletons cover your eyes and scroll down a smidge!
Whenever you're having a bad day, take a breath and remind yourself that everything is going tibi-a-OK!
If you do end up visiting don't forget to leave a little donation!
Every penny helps to renovate the building and aids the preservation of pieces so maybe your future relatives will be able to see the building for themselves.

  2. I went there on a Friday night a few months ago as well, and it was so cool! It was crowded, but it felt like I had the museum somewhat to myself.

  5. Oh, this made me nostalgic for London! The free museums and galleries there are some of the best things about living in London....and the British Museum is the best.
